I have to say that I too have been "romanced by Romeo". I've read "Shake Hands with the Devil" as well as watched the documentary. I think the real treat was having Maj. Beardsley at the presentation of the documentary(He was Dallaire's executive staff officer, or as he so aptly put it, Dallaire was the Canadian contingent commander, and he was the contingent).<br /> <br /> I do have to admit though, that I read it from the point of view of a future officer(currently at RMC). He's definately the "real deal" when it comes to leadership.

I watched a panel discussion on Richler Ink. on the nature of evil. There were three members, one representing the Holocaust, one South Africa and Dallaire. I was struck by the calmness of the man but when he spoke, he spoke with a underlining tension that caused the rest of the panel to become very still. It was as if every word was paid for.
