It's a shame. I've been hearing that the reason they were there was suspicion of stolen property. They knew he had shot at people before???? What is he doing out and about? I feel sorry for Police Officers that put their life on the line, only to have to deal with the same person over and over. They put them in our court put them back out. I don't know what the answer to that is, stiffer penalties, rehabilitation? And if he has shown no improvement, I think the least that could be done is regular visitation by some authority.
Gun control...Criminals are not going to report or register guns. So what purpose has been served? The only purpose would be giving MAJOR time for criminal use or possesion of an unregistered gun.
I'd like to see marijuana taken out of criminal hands. I don't understand why they think legalizing it is a problem. I don't smoke it now, and if it was legal, I still wouldn't. But it's natural. Alcohol is far worse and we can buy it anywhere. Maybe it's because the pharmecudical companies haven't found a way to patent it yet The government could pay down the national debt. I don't think it is fair to put the Police in the position they are in now, for a natural, harmless plant.

The Commisioneer of the RCMP was on National Television

Telling everyone this was a "Grow Op".

Now we all know that was not the case, the RCMP even went as far as convincing Anne Mclelland to ask for greater penalties for "gro ops".

[perjury] in front of the entire population of Canada!

Martha Stewart just got released for a similiar incident!
Does anyone out there get this?

Dennis Baker

I have a very hard time believing anything that comes throught the media. It takes about 4 days before the actual threads of truth start unravelling.

I have always preported that legalizing ALL drugs would break the backs of organized crime and make our lives a whole lot better. I too agree that people that want to do drugs will no matter what the laws are. I do not do drugs either yet I do see the benefit in legalizing them. It could clean up the seeder parts of our towns and cities and hopefully keep some of our young people out of these areas and danger. Most underaged drinkers do it at home where they are much safer and in most cases that I have seen supervised.

Definately my vote is legalize all drugs.

I believe marijuana should be legal. Then heavily tax it and fight the real drugs with the money made from marijuana. Could you imagine tourism to Canada if marijuana were legalized?

Everyone thinks that this is a grow-op problem and it's really starting to get on my nerves. I mean, if there were as many grow-ops in Canada as they say, and they were as dangerous as they say, why would this tragic news shock us? According to them, it should be happening every week! That's like saying "Well Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka were married, and they were murderers, so we should illegalize marriage."

Now, I was shocked and disgusted when I heard this news, so don't think I'm being callous or anything. I just don't think that there is a connection between this man's activities with pot (he only had a few plants) and the fact he killed four people and then himself.

Remember when that pig farmer alledgedly killed how many prostitutes in BC...well I can still go down to a butchery and by pork. Were those prostitutes less valuable than the police?

Death is a very strange subject, and murder even stranger. There are so many questions, especially "why?".

Finnaly someone with a real statement!

The commisioneer of the RCMP LIED to the entire Canadian Population claiming it was a Grow OP!

These guys spin doctor everything to get more and more power!

I can not even tell the truth on this site regarding my encounters with the RCMP and the social/economic results of these encounters.

We will never know the truth concerning these deaths!

Recalling the book "desent into madness" Vern Frolic
Crown prosecutor in Penticton was the author.

There are many rummors regarding an illegal Gold Strip mine started shortly after this man execution!

Dennis Baker

It was not a grow-op that killed those fine men. It was a nutjob who had a hate on for police that did it. The man was growing MJ in his quanset (no matter what others would believe), but he was very well armed with illegal weapons and explosives. This nutjob has commited several violent crimes in the past, and it was well known in the community he would like nothing more than taking out an authority figure, such as an RCMP constable.

Ironic that his nephew is an Edmonton City Police constable.

Now, today, a local Lutheran Pastor must perform a funeral for his own son whom he baptized himself only 25 years ago.

It's not about the drugs. It's about the flow of illegal guns from down south, and about the courts worrying too much about the rights of the offender instead of the victim and the public.
3 of the 4 dead officers were on the force, in that division for many years. One had been there less than a month.

All knew the man's reputation. It was not nessecary for them to be told about his prior antics.

Did you forget about that email we sent you? Let's just drop that other subject until you read what I wrote.
Didn't the Commissioner of the RCMP retract his statement on marijuana anyway? No need getting hostile here fellows.
