United we stand, divided we fall. It's a simple concept. If Quebec separates, the East Coast will be cut off and pressured to separate as well. Alberta will leave too. When they were poor, they had a lot of respect for Ontario (and our money). Now that they have oil, they don't want to share anymore. Once the country falls apart, the new successor countries will have to start negotiating trade treaties with the US and each other. Their currencies will quickly become worthless. Canada, the country is the envy of the World and enjoys a great deal of respect internationally. The new, tiny countries will have to work hard to make a name for themselves and build up the same level of respect, not mentioning the economic problems. Canada is a G7 nation. Its successors won't be. Chances are, separated and smaller in size, they will become largely invisible. An Alberta passport just won't be the same as our Canadian passport. Anyone who plays with the idea of separatism is too naive to really understand the implications. We have a truly great thing going, why destroy it?<br />

Quebec... yes Quebec. A distinct society. How many of our prime ministers were from Quebec so far? How much money do we give them to stay? Yet they claim they are left out. I'd like to say "if you want to leave, leave, but stop this blackmail!" However... I would like to propose that Hwy 401 and its immediate surroundings remain part of Canada. I am fed up with this nonsense.
