So what's it going to be Canadians? Do we penalize this financially devastated man even further by not honouring the courts verdict that his rights (in the Charter) were not be upheld?

Or do we finally admit that the enforcement of a single-tier healthcare public system is UNCONSTITUTIONAL against the rights and liberties 'enshrined' in the Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms?"

Not only that but if EVERY procedure is to be paid out of the taxpayers pocket where do we draw the line. Technolegey (sorry cant spell worth a Damn) brings new ways of extending or improving the quality of life eveyday. Where does the PUBLIC liability end and the PERSONAL libality start for your own health care. For instance, acording to health departments who examine childrens teeth in the early school years dental care is a health issue and yet there is no public funding for dental care, at the same time other expensive treatments for "quality of life" issues are funded and some lifesaving treatments are not avalable let alone funded. I do belive that the diagonistic, basic and emergency parts of the system must be publicly funded, but wonder at what point we must say the cost for a procedure for an individual exceeds the ability of the publicly funded system to pay. Either way the debate about HOW the care is delivered is a non starter to me, I care less HOW it is delivered but how and WHAT is PAID for out of the public purse is the important issue.

When you are up to your ass in alligators it is difficult to remember that the initial objective was to drain the swamp

Either way, I see the government eventually being forced to pay out. Soon politicians will try and find a compromise and offer 'tax deductions' to those who use private clinics.

There's no way out of it: Two-Tier is going to happen.

Public Tier advocates...if you push them long enough, they'll basically admit that public healthcare is a failure, but it's the 'idea' they wan't to keep alive.

I don't want to have my fate determined by someone else's 'ideals', I'd rather get by on my own steam thank you.

[QUOTE BY= Rural] So what's it going to be Canadians?
