Almost every commentator and political junkie knows that this is the action of a desperate and corrupt government who finally gets around to doing something that they said they would after years of dithering. And calling this vote buying is correct since immigrant votes are always for sale when is comes to easing immigration laws to allow more of their own into the country.

Here in Saint John, NB there are already job postings where candidates must speak both English and Mandarin in order to apply. Our university here has many Asian students, and this new program will help these students find employment as they continue to study. Uni-lingual English speaking students however will no doubt find it even tougher to find summer employment as most jobs here require one to be bilingual in the first place, especially in the call center and hospitality industry.
