I am a member of the Liberal Party, but I am also proudly a conservative because I am a nationalist and I believe in preserving not only the independence of my nation, but also the culture, customs and values which I value highly. Not everybody in the Liberal Party is socially-liberal or even for that matter, economically-liberal. Technically the Conservatives are economically liberal. <br /> <br />I am a member of the Liberal Party because I do agree with certain parts of Paul Martin's agenda and politically I have found it is the best place for myself and the many others in the party who share my ideas to express those ideas. i'm curious about one thing. what will happen to those who have been married if someone decide in a year or two to outlaw SSM ? and if the governement is defeated after outlaw SSM, and that the new governement decide to permit it again, those who have already get married will have to be married again ? <img align=absmiddle src='images/smilies/confused.gif' alt='Confused'>

[/QUOTE] <br /> <br />Okay, fist of all, I didn't mean selling off relics or anything like that, I mean that the Church should sell off the old Pagan works of art they STOLE during the forced conversion of the Roman Empire. I also meant that I think Jesus would prefer the Church's money go towards the poor as opposed to gilding their churches with silver and gold. As I said before, I think Jesus would rather have a Tabernacle made out of plain stone rather than jewel-incrested gold, I mean, just look at what the Bible says about his everyday life. The words poor, meek, and humble come to mind. <br /> <br />Secondly, I think you misinterpreted my comparison of the papacy with a dictatorship. I don't see anything wrong with the position of the Pope, it is just the way the Pope's powers are abused. For instance, the Pope is the absolute monarch of a nation. I don't recall that ever being mentioned in Jesus' plans. Did you know that as absolute monarch of the Vatican City the Pope is in charge of foreign and domestic policy? Did you know that because of the Pope, a UN resolution banning persecution of homosexuals by the state (in the form of imprisonment, torture, and execution) did not pass and thus homosexuality is still punishable by death in 9 counrties? Hmmm, and I thought the Pope was against the death penalty. <br /> <br />Thirdly, don't you find your anti-protestantism a little ironic concidering both of your namesakes were protestants? Hell, one was even Presbyterian.
