I wish I had a better memory for details. Like titles of books I've read. Years ago I read a book (I believe if was nonfiction) that made the prediction that once the iron curtain came down the pendulum would swing and the U.S. would become the opressor that Russia was once made out to be. As the years have passed more and more changes have taken place that keep that prediction coming back like a haunting. The reasoning for the predicition was related more to the existence of duality in life and how there is no escaping that. It's as though we need this duality to have the human experience. So bearing this in mind, there is hope Kevin.

What are the major media outlets saying. We have to generate enough alternate advertising strategies to bushwack the establishment media. All the majority of people are hearing or seeing is what the major media outlets produce, propaganda disguised as objective journalism and informed commentary. So we need to make up posters, post them, attend all candidate meetings and ask good questions, write letters to the editor, go to other blogs and post there, talk to your neighbors and friends and everyone you can everywhere you go.

A lot of what the NDP stands for never makes it onto the news, Kevin. It's often brutal when you watch the news and wait for that other opinion to come up and instead are faced with two corporate lackeys agreeing with each other while insisting they are different. I'm not sure there is an answer except to encourage people to get out and look for themselves.

Kevin, as long as we are breathing there is hope! We are the future and since we are willing to put our thoughts on vive, write letters to the editor and basically speak out about the issues we care about, and not just the ones that put money in our own pockets...there is hope for Canada and even the world IMO! Cheer up don't let the news and/or negative people get you down, it does seem to be a period in history unlike any we have known for the last 60 years or so but there is always hope, 60 years ago people could not communicate the way we can today and that is progress. ;)

Some day popular political philosophy will catch up with technology, Kevin. I just hope that day comes before the environment collapses. Technically I'm a pessimist, but ideologically I'm still optimistic. There is hope out there and the harder we work, the better chance we have of realizing humanity's potential.

Our society will probably collapse before the environment.
Canadians as a whole seem to be getting angrier and more discontented with most aspects of their lives.
Prices keep going up, more demands are made each year on the taxpayers, Governments at all 3 levels keep enacting more and more restriction, rules and regulations on how we live and on our personal freedoms. We seem to be drifting farther and farther away from democracy with lobby groups running the country.
The health care system, education and the justice system are not working. Infrastructure is falling apart.
Canadians found years ago that by having fewer children, they could maintain a better standard of living. Now we have Government insisting that we need growth and encouraging immigration at an alarming rate.
How will we sustain all these extra people when we cannot supply enough power and clean water for the existing population?
These are all matters that have the general population anxious and disgruntled.
If we don't come up with some unity soon our society will break down.
