A Romulan named Nero leading a group of renegade Romulans? Can you say recycled script? Ala Star Trek: Nemesis. That was a damn horrid movie, worst of the TNG crew movies.

The problem with having the Romulans in THIS film is that it doesn't fit the timeline. The Federation doesn't run into or have any contact with the Romulans until the episode "Balance Of Terror" in the original series. THIS movie takes place where Kirk and Spock are mere junior officers, rookies, thus having the Klingons as the enemy makes much more sense, but as the Star Trek historical timeline is in the complete shitpot, they can just drop anything in.

Here' something else that's odd about this film. The trailer shows young Kirk driving an old Corvette. Just how the hell did he find a 300 year old Corvette that is still in perfect working condition? And where did he find the gas to power it too?

So true. I have a feeling they are not going to explain it. I still want to see it.

Maybe its a replica or a kit car, that could be possible. Or maybe it was encapsulated in a time capsule

Time capsule? No no no, no more of this time traveling or time displaced, or temporal mechanics or time/space gates OR ANY combination of whatever causes time to go screwy, and that includes time capsules.

So where did he find the gas for it? Magic pixie dust? That's probably where the writers will get their explanation.

actual you are wrong, the The Earth-Romulan War happened before Kirk was even alive. This war was forshadowed in Star Trek Enterprise and if the show wasn't canceled might have included it in its story.

And far as the car, i'm sure well into the future after gas powered cars are out of fasion some people will still have them as hobbies or collectors.

The one thing that did bug me about the trailer was the fact they were constructing the Enterprise 1701 on earth. Every other enterprise including the NX was built in space. It has been noted that the 1701 was built on Earth in San fran, but assembled in space. They were clearly assembling it on earth.

I know this movie is kinda a re-imaging of Trek, so it will be full of cannon mistakes. If its a good movie I won't mind, It will be fun to point them all out though, heh.

I thought the Romulans were kept secret by the Vulcans because they were embarassed to admit that their people could express emotion without going nuts.

That is true. I think they are hoping to get younger people in to Star Trek. As long as the mistakes are not BIG, I cool with it, but I will be point them out as well. Plus, they have a good cast.

Yeah I know about the Earth-Romulan War. It predates the Federation. What I was talking about is that the Federation (in which this movie is takes place in) doesn't have any sort of contact with the Romulans until the events of "The Balance Of Terror". Therefore having the Romulans in this film makes no sense. The Klingons however fit perfectly in this film as the main antagonists.

Star Trek: Enterprise shouldn't of went beyond the first episode "Broken Bow". That was the worst Trek series ever. Temporal coldwar? Oh come on, enough with this time travel crap. The final episodes of the series were just horrible, obviously the writers and crew didn't care anymore.
