Again, you let your prejudices decide. I've been in IT a very long time, and I've met some 'asians' that I wouldn't let near a VCR.
I know what you mean. My father has a 20-year old Harman Kardon stereo/receiver and it has broken down and there is a Chinese family that is a certified repair dealer that repairs that type of device. They are whizzes with anything electronic. Anything from an old tube radio to a new computer monitor. My dad found a pretty nice Micron (Panasonic) computer monitor that was malfunctioning and shutting off due to thinking it was overheating and the guy spend 2 months just for the heck of it trying to get it to work but it just would not work......he has told us newer monitors are much lwoer quality than they used to be. They are nice but often don't last long.
Ahh! 'Race'. That outdated concept. Ok, no problem.
We can agree to disagree. Obviously racism in the west is not popular in mainstream discourse. That said--racism is not outdated in most of the world. Israel was set up specifically so the Jewish race could have a homeland. African and Asian countries never allow other races (or even other nationalities) to become full citizens.

Naturally, if people who are white mate with others and give our living space away white people will become outdated and simply disappear.
I do tend to agree with you though. Not that any particular 'race' is smarter than any other (studies show no difference)
Depends on the study. Google Phillippe Rushton or Arthur Jensen. Apparently IQ testing companies have tried very hard to obbjectively equalize results based on race and they have been unable to do so.

Also, the circumstantial evidence such as the disaster that is Africa would suggest there are differences that cannot be blamed on western imperialism or lack of opportunity. Groups make their own luck.
but it does tend to be cultural. More studing, fewer distractions. So I'd lean toward not a more authoritarian culture, but a cultural need to be the best.
I think it is both, because Asians want to be the best more than anyone right now. They have the desire. The parents of Chinese kids I was friends with would resort to whipping their kids with belts if they did badly in school or didn't practice the piano enough.

I do think the authoritarian nature of Chinese culture is lessening a bit, though China is still communist, western ideas in capitalism are improving outcomes.

I also think it depends on the era. Right now the white people of the west are often quite lazy, unmotivated if they are wealthy, sometimes even if they are not. They are less hungry than westerners were in eras of less prosperity. Consumerism, bread and circuses......
In University, the fact that Humanaties courses were required in Engineering was the only thing that saved my average - because in math and physics the forgein (read:asian exchange) students would kick butt. But they never scored well in English Lit.
I hear you, just remember (and this relates to your mention of studies) that the vast majority of those individuals who are awarded the Nobel Prize are white, in some fields up to around 25% are Jewish, and almost none are Asian or African. People would have us believe that this is all related to opportunity but I doubt it.

Oh yeah, they looked it up and 2 Canadians from Ontario who attended the University of Toronto were the first people to discover stem cells back in the 1960s. Now that stem cells are a big deal, they might get the Nobel Prize I heard several months ago.
