figfarmer figfarmer:
will people clue in? Disliking the US policies and maintaining a truthful perspective is not being anti-American. Canadians feel that the people of the U.S. are much like them, but much pumped full of bullshit and false values. We try to help them by making them aware of reality, which they don't accept usually. Yes, after the US joined the war due to the Japanese invasion at Pearl they did a lot.
As for the use of nuclear weapons against civilians it is horrible, one of the low points of humanity, right in there with the fire bombing of Dresden. If you can justify that then 9/11 is justified also.
Wait a second here, what does this mean that you said then:
"And the ones who run the government
run the presses.
By the time the Yanks entered the war it had gone from Germany pushing ahead to an almost standstill. The attack on Pearl Harbour brought the US in, mostly against Japan, and mostly with them on the losing side until Nagasaki and Hiroshima. That won their war for them, then they threw in their lot with the rest against Germany. I would rather be speaking Japanese than look at pictures from Hiroshima. There was no honour there."
Right here you basically said that after the US nuked Japan, they decided to throw in against Germany. That is a false statement. I said you are anti-american because you are basically bashing their efforts in World War 2 and implying they didn't do shit, and that Canada, as you said "turned the tide." I don't think anyone is anti-american who is against certain policies of the US, but you just say shit like we were losing against Japan up until we used nukes(another false statement)which seems to me like a putdown towards my country, because everyone except a moron knows that Japan was losing Islands and couldn't stand up against the US military's industrial abilities. If you think Japan is so great, how about you look at some pictures from the rape of manchuria. Japan was a different country back then. I'm aware of reality, and the fact that the a-bombs on Japan weren't needed, considering the amount of damage already done from bombings(saw the percentages of the cities destroyed on the Fog of War movie). I think that your problem is you seem to be assuming that all Americans are stupid. I mean with lines like "Canadians feel that the people of the U.S. are much like them, but much pumped full of bullshit and false values. We try to help them by making them aware of reality, which they don't accept usually." I think your arrogance shines very brightly. I know my country isn't perfect, but I also know we did alot in World War 2, and while some things aren't easily justified(a-bombing Japan) I find that alot of the statements you keep making are disrespectful and moronic. How many Americans do you even know? You keep making these generalizations about Americans as though all of us are stupid and full of propaganda. I make up my own mind about what I see and barely ever take the news at face value, but you wouldn't know that because you don't know me.
