I dont believe we are anything like the americans.. there are some who think so but our culture is not like theirs ...thank God.. we share somethings but thats it...metric love it.. thanks Pierre and my only fear is if we keep baby bush in Ottawa we will be sold out to the US.. .. the trojan horse is fiction but its theme is right on.. they will be wanting our water and control of the tar sands.. so we will need a strong pro candaian in ottawa and not a yank wanna be like we have...

Keemo Keemo: Toro Toro: Canadians are more similar to Americans than almost any two countries are on earth. We do share a continent, and allegedly a language, but Americans think we are all a bunch of dope smoking pinko socialists. Not that many of us have a much higher opinion of Americans. I once had to provide translation services between a guy from Newfoundland and a tech support agent from Alabama. I had a very hard time understanding the yank, no problem understanding the Newfy, but the two could not understand each other at all I have regular on-line conversations with Americans, and they are no way similar to Canadians, in language, knowledge of international affairs, or for that matter, geography. We won't even get into politics and patriotism, some actually believe the Department of Homeland Security, and it's power to skip over civil rights is a good thing. I've lived in Canada, the US and England. Except for the different colours of money, the fact that hockey isn't on the front page of the sports section, and that I have a private healh care card, there is virtually no difference between living in Canada and the US. Canadians exaggerate the differences between the two countries to establish an identity. It is a perfect example of the Narcissism of Small Differences. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism ... ifferences ![]() |
