Pact lets U.S. troops into Canada and Visa Vera
Date: Monday, December 09 2002 Topic: International News
American troops will be allowed to enter Canadian territory in the event of a terrorist attack or natural disaster, under a new security accord announced Monday.
The new Canada-U.S. Planning Group will coordinate plans to permit U.S. soldiers to cross into Canada and offer assistance during a national crisis. Canadian soldiers would also be available to the U.S. if needed.
U.S. troops would be under the control of the Canadian military when they entered our territory; the reverse would be true if our troops were deployed south of the border.
