it subsidizes it. thats the incentive for immigrants (unskilled) to come here. even if they cant get jobs they can have children and get paid anyways. Welfare doesnt cause drug addiction, but it allows them free reign, only for my tax money to be used to pay for cops to arrest them, and then for the revolving door to let them back on the street again.

Poverty causes drug addiction. Hopelessness causes drug addiction; gangs; violence.
Welfare is for the desperately poor. Change the situation for those people, and the other problems go away to a large extent. Like the wonderful promise of successive governments to 'end child poverty in Canada by the year 2000'.
As for immigration - same situation. Get qualified Doctors and engineers out of taxi cabs, where they can do more good for society. I highly doubt the main reason to immigrate here is to immediately go on Welfare. You have enough self respect to work for a living, don't you? Why would you assume they don't? Every immigrant I know works far harder than some natural born citizens I work with.
