Patish Patish:
Burka is worn in radical muslim countries.
They live according to sharia law.
Sharia law mean - no freedom, baby.
Do you want to live according to sharia law ?

Oooh look! A bunch of hasidic jews with suicide vests on.....!

Here's a fun fact for you two to chew on: The "radical" muslim countries that have the harshest religous laws and strictest state opression of women are WESTERN ALLIES in the Arabian Peninsula! Even "evil" Iran doesnt enforce religious practice the way Saudi Arabia and some Gulf states do!

It's a free country. Women should be able to war what they want, including burquas. If we limit Muslim immigration then we won't have to deal with the cultural Muslim invasion they are suffering in Europe.

Hey, apparently the hasidic jews are on a jihad in Afghanistan and are getting jews from around the world to fight NATO.....

Hey, did you hear about the hasidic jewish plot to blow up parts of Toronto?

Irrelevant. The debate is about not wanting to fit in. I might point out the crimes of Israel or that we invaded the lands of those wearing burkhas but that's besides the point and it would just be a fight.

In Canada we have rights and freedoms and that includes the right to wear religious apparel.

That's the Canada I was born into and the Canada I want to keep and I don't mean this as an immigration thing. No offence intended.

I have no problem with people wearing what they want derby, but the burka is more than a bit of clothing. It is an icon of radical Islam. I'm all for letting these radical's wear what they want, it makes them easier to spot.

I would very much like you to prove that.

That's what you say eyebrock. That doesn't make it so. Its also the dress of our biggest ally in the muslim world. Banning it just confirms what the muslim fundies say about us and makes their cause stronger as the peaceful muslims who do believe in the burkha as much as all the other religious folk and their religious apparel get pushed towards fundie radicalism.

They can live how they want in their countries but in my country I want the freedom to wear what I want and that freedom includes things like this.

Banning the burkha would see the death of the cotton industry.

Saudi Arabia? The state that funds radical whabbism around the world?

No mate of mine and the sooner we in the west realise that the House of Saud are our enemies, the sooner we can deal with radical Islam effectively.

I can't understand why some people can't see the enemy in front of them.

How many times do they have to tell us that they hate us before we believe them?

Not you personally but the west none-the-less. We deal with radical islam by getting the hell out of their lands and minding our own business. We leave them to whatever society they decide to run and the extent of our dealings with them should be on a strict customer-supplier basis. We sell them what we want to sell them and buy from them what we want to buy and that all.

That more then anything will take all the wind out of the radicals since they won't be able to rally around "its a war on islam".

Oil running out? Too bad so sad guys. Learn to bake really tasty cookies and we'll buy them from you.

I wouldn't call anyone who believes in the burkha "peaceful". Maybe peaceful towards us but they're not peaceful towards their women, who they treat as slaves. Personally I don't give a shit what the Fundies think, we need to show the world that we will not tolerate this sort of treatment towards women within our country. As the article states, this is NOT religious apparel and I highly doubt anyone really wears it by choice.

What interference in Saudi Arabia did we do to get 14 Saudi's to hijack airliners and fly them into buildings in the US, killing thousands of innocent Americans?

Exactly. We in the west can't bring ourselves to face the real enemies, the Saudi's.

Instead we engage in a war against proxy armies paid for and supported by Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, Pakistan etc.

much like Communists would be harder to identify without Che shirts. Removing those Che shirts does not change them being Communists.

ROTFL Funny that you think people that wear Che t-shirts are a radical group that need to be identified.

Well you are wrong. I'd say the majority of them are people who believe in a religious way of life and dress accordingly. What you think of how they treat their women means as much to them as what they think about our society means to you.

there was a time when the majority of canadian women felt that the wife's place was in the kitchen.
