the tories did a good job of it too only they laundered it through local ridings.. short memory mtbr? Now even former tory PMs are saying Harper is useless.. ie.Joe Clark doesn't get Stephen Harper, saying his real problem with the Prime Minister is that he doesn't know "where he really is" on certain issues.

"I've not had a prime minister before whom I didn't think I knew where he really was, what his real concerns were. I didn't always agree with him, but that's the situation I'm in ...," the former prime minister said yesterday in an interview with CTV Newsnet's Mike Duffy.

Speaking on the eve of the unveiling of his official prime ministerial portrait, Mr. Clark was critical of Mr. Harper, saying he doesn't agree with some of the directions in which he is taking the country.

What happened to the good old days of Saskatchewan tories stuffing safe deposit boxes full of cash. It is so much easier to catch these guys when you have evidence like that.

To lie, he has to know something; to be PM, he has to be responsible for what he should have known.

$1:
Can we keep things in perspective and limit the hyperbole and the Liberal manufactured indignation and fear mongering. The papers left behind by Bernier, although considered classified, were not, as only the CBC would call ’sensitive’.
Fact of the matter is that the content of the papers was available to anybody, subversive or otherwise, by a simple request via the access to information of the government.
Contrast this with the debate created by Ralph Goodale, when he was finance minister, and there was evidence of a leak in the finance department about Income Trust legislation, which even the CBC would consider intolerable, by a competent government in which people could have trust.

No money was made nor were valuable national secrets lost. This was simply a political sting.

Where were all you high security, secret squirels when Chretien squashed the RCMP Sidewinder report? What about the Lib insiders involvement in the UN's oil for money scandel?

Yet you don't seem to be mentioning the fact that the RCMP broke rules and without evidence implied Goodale was guilty and influenced the election.

Ralph was subsequently vindicated as innocent.

Bernier did what he is accused of and committed a very serious break of security but all you can do is make every possible attempt to shift blame to the Liberals.

If the Libs had done this you would have been screaming for charges to be filed and the entire gov't to fall but when your precious CPC does it all you do is scream its a media created scandal and call it a political sting.

Max left top secret documents involving a great many other NATO countries at his ex-girlfriends house for 5 bloody weeks.

It wasn't the Liberals.

It wasn't the media distorting the truth.

It was a blunder done entirely by one of Harpers hand-picked choosen cronies and it falls entirely on their shoulders.

I note David Asper takes a similar tack in today's National Post--basically mudslinging a bunch of stuff from years ago in order to detract from the issue. I fail to see the argument--since the Liberals did such a crappy job of security, then the Conservatives are entitiled to do a crapy job as well? I don't buy it.

If indeed the room was bugged, my level of concern goes up. This is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a person privy to the most sensitive information in government.

Take care not to end up like Staline who has trusted Hitler but was paranoiac towards its own people.
