It is exactly this kind of idiotic asshattery I predicted when our little jihadi decided to go all Islamic.
Retarded school boards, it's a good joke for fuckwit's jihadi buddies; they must be having a good laugh.
Good on Dad for not falling for the bullshit.

We have two cenotaphs in our town as the result of the amalgamation of previously separate towns that eventually grew into one another. There was a Remembrance ceremony at the smaller one this Sunday. My Cadet daughter marched in the parade, There were several hundred citizens there to witness. This year there were also SWAT tem police in full armour and combats, automatics at the ready in the crowd, talking to their lapels and fingering their triggers! That bugs me no end. Yes my daughter was wearing a uniform but this sort of overreaction gives a victory to the nut-bars who mean us harm. Be brave, for God sakes. Don't do the cowardly thing and turn this place into a police state because of something that is less of a threat to us individuals than lightning strikes.
She marches again at the big cenotaph tomorrow ... the one that typically draws abut 3000 people each year. This is a "special" year and also our local Lorne Scot regiment is closely connected to the Argylls in Hamilton, so I expect as many as 5000 will be there. We'll see if they turn that into an armed camp, as well. That's how terrorists win, by making us scared.

I would expect a more than average attendance at this year's Remembrance Day.

Regina Regina: I would expect a more than average attendance at this year's Remembrance Day. Just got back from our small village cenotaph. Usually about 40 attend the remembrance day ceremony, this year I counted 105. Even our local brass band played in tune.

I didn't mention it in case it didn't happen but it did. My Sea Cadet daughter read "In Flanders Fields" ... flawlessly ... at the main Oakville cenotaph in front of some thousands (not sure how many, yet. This honour was set up by her recently deceased Godfather, who was a veteran and well respected local Legion member. I am a VERY proud father, this evening.

You should be proud to have a child who recognizes the significance of this day, most don't.

$1: This is a "special" year and also our local Lorne Scot regiment is closely connected to the Argylls in Hamilton,
My granduncle served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and the Lorne Scots during the war. One of his buddies from that unit, originally from Ontario, married an English girl, and after the war settled a mile from my uncle in SW Manitoba.

ps. The armed police presence was much more subtle and appropriate, yesterday at the cenotaph. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought that having Canadian Carabinieri was over the top.
